# About Seris

Seris is an open-source desktop AI trading assistant for market research and local backtests. It puts a chat with an AI agent next to live charts for crypto, stocks, ETFs, commodities, FX and indices, with the model you choose.

## What Seris does

Ask about a market move next to its chart, follow instruments in a watchlist, set price alerts, and turn an idea into a reviewed TypeScript strategy that you backtest on real historical candles from Binance spot and Hyperliquid perpetuals. Seris runs as a desktop app on Macs with Apple Silicon, and the interface is in English and Chinese.

## Principles

- Open source. Project-owned code and public documentation are licensed under Apache-2.0, and the [source is on GitHub](https://github.com/aowang-ai/seris).
- Bring your own model. Use a cloud provider, a compatible endpoint, or local models through Ollama or LM Studio.
- Local-first. Conversations, watchlists, strategies and backtest results stay on your machine, and API keys stay in the operating system credential store.
- Named data sources. Market data comes from Hyperliquid, Hyperliquid xyz, Binance and Longbridge, and missing data is shown as missing.

The Seris name and logo are covered by separate [brand terms](https://github.com/aowang-ai/seris/blob/main/apps/desktop-ui/public/brand/LICENSE.md); dependencies keep their own licenses.
