Troubleshooting
Most issues come from the first launch, the keychain, a model connection or a data source. Find the matching section below. If it persists, open an issue with your app version and steps to reproduce.
macOS blocks the first launch
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway for Seris. Seris is ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarized, so macOS asks once.
Keychain prompts after an upgrade
macOS may ask you to allow access to an existing model credential. Allow it. If the credential store is locked or unavailable, unlock it and restart Seris, or save the model connection again in Settings → Models.
Model setup required, or the connection fails
Open Settings → Models and check the API key, endpoint and model, then test the connection. For Ollama or LM Studio, start the local server before choosing a model.
No crypto news
Crypto news needs CRYPTOCOMPARE_API_KEY in the environment Seris starts with.
Market data unavailable
Check your connection and choose Retry. When an update fails, the chart keeps the last snapshot and shows its time. For US stocks and ETFs, connect Longbridge from Markets; what you can see depends on your account permissions.
An instrument doesn't show up in search
Try the ticker instead of the company name. For example, search V for the Binance Visa perpetual.
Browser tools don't start
Browser tools use Google Chrome. To use another browser, set SERIS_BROWSER_PATH to its executable.
"Run reached its step limit"
Seris 0.1.1 removed the fixed step limit. Upgrade to the latest release, and long tasks continue until they finish or you press Stop.
The service could not start
If Seris reports that its service could not start after repeated attempts, quit and reopen the app.
Report a bug
Open an issue with your macOS version, app version, steps to reproduce and what you expected. Remove API keys, account details and private conversations from logs and screenshots. Report vulnerabilities privately as described in SECURITY.md.
